Portraits are dear to my heart. I don't think you need to be anyone but yourself to require a portrait. Portraits are not just for the famous or the aspiring actress. I think about how little I am in photographs, mostly by design because of my own nature to hide in the shadows; but it's not fair for future generations. I often bemoan the lack of images of my own grandparents at the various stages of their lives. I look back at photos of previous generations with awe and reverence. A portrait can take me back in time, help me place myself more fully in the shoes of the person pictured. It's an amazing thing. We don't often think of ourselves as part of history, so busy are we in the here and now. But one day, your grand kids or perfect strangers might be looking back at you, and for a moment remembering or seeing what it was like to be you at this place in time.
